Gua Sha is a Chinese medicine treatment/technique that involves applied pressure to the skin in strokes or scrapes by a round-edged instrument. Essential Oils with AromaTouch
Having worked in massage therapy for almost 30 years and loving essential oils, we at Body Awareness Center combine the healing properties of the two. This is where we introduced AromaTouch massage. The combination of the two modalities is extremely beneficial in day-to-day life, and we want our clients to have the opportunity to experience the same benefits we’ve seen in our own lives.
What is AromaTouch exactly?
The AromaTouch technique by DoTerra is more than just a massage. It is a whole-body, mind-and-body relaxation therapy that promotes wellness, peace, and balance in the body. The use of essential oils to support mental health and well-being is becoming more common as people recognize their benefits. With this in mind, DoTerra created the AromaTouch technique, which is said to be a clinical approach to introducing essential oils.
The AromaTouch technique applies essential oils to energy meridians and visceral contact points on the back and feet to help balance the body’s sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. This technique improves well-being by reducing physical and emotional stressors and supports healthy nervous system function. It is not a massage but a technique for applying therapeutic-grade essential oils topically to create a profound whole-body experience.
The many benefits of the AromaTouch technique include:
- Stress management
- Immune support
- Reduced inflammation
- Support your body’s autonomic balance
AromaTouch enhances essential oils’ activity and stimulates known body meridians and energy zones while balancing body systems and function.
Lymphatic Massage & Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a precise, therapeutic technique using rhythmic, intentional movements to support the natural flow of lymph throughout the body. Unlike traditional massage, this work is specialized and targeted to reduce congestion, support detoxification, and enhance the body’s innate healing capacity.
With over 30 years of experience as a professional bodyworker, I bring a depth of clinical skill and intuitive understanding to this work. Each session is guided by listening to the body, recognizing that fluid retention, inflammation, and stagnation often reflect deeper patterns within the system.
Why Lymphatic Health Matters
The lymphatic system plays a vital role in detoxification, immune function, and fluid balance. When it becomes sluggish or congested, you may experience:
- Water retention and puffiness
- Fatigue and brain fog
- Inflammation and discomfort
- Slower healing and recovery
Supporting lymphatic flow can:
- Reduce swelling and fluid retention
- Improve circulation and energy
- Support immune function
- Enhance metabolic activity
- Promote a lighter, more balanced feeling in the body
Detox Lymphatic Massage
This is where lymphatic work becomes a deeper, more comprehensive experience.
Detox Lymphatic Massage is designed to stimulate the body’s natural detox pathways, supporting the release of accumulated waste, excess fluid, and inflammatory congestion. This work moves more thoroughly through areas of stagnation while still respecting the body’s timing and intelligence.
With over three decades of hands-on experience, I’ve found that real detoxification happens when the body is supported, not forced. When flow is restored, the body naturally begins to clear what it no longer needs.
What This Work Supports
- Reduced bloating and water retention
- A lighter, more sculpted feeling in the body
- Improved digestion and elimination
- Increased energy and mental clarity
- Reduced inflammation and puffiness
- Support for immune function and metabolism
Many clients notice visible and tangible shifts after just one session.

Post-Surgical Lymphatic Massage
Surgery places a significant demand on the body, creating inflammation, fluid buildup, and tissue trauma. Supporting the lymphatic system during this time can dramatically influence how you heal.
Post-surgical lymphatic massage helps:
- Reduce swelling and bruising
- Minimize fibrosis and scar tissue formation
- Support proper lymphatic flow
- Accelerate recovery
- Enhance overall surgical results
I work with clients recovering from procedures such as:
- Breast augmentation, explant, or reconstruction
- Liposuction or body contouring
- Tummy tuck
- Facelift and facial procedures
- And other cosmetic or reconstructive surgeries
Each session is adapted to your stage of healing, always working in alignment with your body’s capacity.
Preparing the Body for Surgery
Preparation is part of healing.
To prime your body for optimal recovery, many clients begin with 1–3 comprehensive lymphatic treatments, such as Detox Lymphatic Drainage or Mini Detox sessions. These treatments are more in-depth and help activate your lymphatic system, reduce inflammation, and promote healthy circulation—creating a strong foundation for healing.
Because these more advanced techniques are reserved for clients who are at least 6 weeks post-op, receiving them before surgery helps your body clear toxins, regulate fluid balance, and optimize lymphatic flow ahead of time.
Post-Surgical Treatment Recommendations
Post-surgery, a minimum of 8 sessions within 30 days is recommended to minimize complications such as fibrosis and prolonged swelling.
Starting treatments within the first 14 days after surgery yields the best results.
This layered approach—priming the body pre-operatively and supporting it consistently post-operatively—reflects Body Awareness Center’s structured healing philosophy. It ensures your recovery is not only smoother, but more complete, with results that feel as good as they look.
The Experience
This work is both precise and deeply regulating.
Clients often leave feeling:
- Lighter in their body
- Clearer in their mind
- More relaxed and grounded
- Reconnected to their natural rhythm
It is not simply about moving fluid—it is about restoring flow throughout the entire system.
